PURPOSE OF RISK ASSESSMENTS

  • Ensure that all risk assessments are systematically completed in accordance with the guidelines to Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA).

  • Baseline risk assessment

    A baseline risk assessment is conducted in order to determine all the significant hazards that are possible in all area of the organisation’s operations and to determine a risk profile or a set of risk profiles of all the identified hazards. The risk profile is used to prioritise issue-based risk assessments and actions plans to reduce risks.

  • Issue based risk assessments

    Issue based risk assessments are detailed risk assessments, which results in the development of action plans for the treatment of significant risk.

  • Continuous risk assessments

    Continuous risk assessments will be a dynamic process whereby employees, supervisors and technical experts shall conduct an identification of hazard exercise, identifying at risk behaviours and collecting information. This shall be used to improve or possibly introduce new control measures.
